Nominee(s):

Jordan Alberton

Jordan graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 2012. She is currently working as a Systems Manager for Prairie Lithium, a company working towards creating the first commercial lithium brine extraction facility. Prior to that she has worked as a field engineer in production enhancement for a well servicing company and in the quality and project management departments at the Regina Bypass.

She has previously volunteered with the Chemical Engineering Student’s Society (ChESS) at the U of S and at the Regina Y Judo club.

Over the past year and a half she has been enjoying watching the DiscoverE Persist series that focuses on telling stories from women around the world and how they persevered in their engineering and tech careers. In the technical presentations role she would be interested in bringing something similar to RES, that would include stories from not just women but all groups of people. In addition to that she would like to be able to bring in presentations on specific niche industries within Saskatchewan so that we can have a chance to learn more about everything going on in this province not just the typical industries that everyone knows about.

Geoff Pollock

Geoff is a registered P.Eng. with APEGS since 2009 and is a construction project manager with Quorex Construction Services Ltd. with 15-years experience including having been employed with 3-previous construction companies. Geoff’s background is primarily in building and institutional building construction but also has a wide variety of experience in civil and heavy civil construction projects.

Geoff’s recent volunteer experience has included being a member and director of the local parent counsel committee at an elementary school in Regina, SK, he assists his wife in working at a major community event that she is president of every late fall in the north central area of Regina, and is a volunteer hockey head coach with Saskatchewan Minor Hockey Association which has primarily kept me busy through a lot of the last 6-7 years.

Over my work history, Geoff has regularly been involved with social committee and planning of events including award events as well and have planned or assisted in planning a variety of different social and events.

Geoff is definitely looking for some more industry specific boards and governing bodies and this is the reason for my interest in RES.

Md. Saiful Arif Khan

Saiful currently works as a research assistant in the lab of resilient infrastructure asset management at the University of Regina, SK, where he is involved in conducting research on Infrastructure Asset Management. Saiful obtained his Master of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA, in August 2020. After graduation, he moved to Regina, SK, and called it home.

After admitting myself into UofR, because of the restriction due to the pandemic, he could not attend any class in person or connect with the people physically. Thus, he tried to connect with people virtually. Hence, he got involved as a member of the Regina Geotechnical Group. Here, he performed as a Mentor in the Soil Rocks Competition (2020-21).

Recently, he was assigned for mentoring a Mitacs Globalink Research Intern who is an undergrad student from Mexico for 16 weeks.

Saiful was also engaged in different volunteer activities in his graduate studies at the UAB, USA. Due to his performance and passion for doing good for the student community, he has been elected as a Senator (2019-2020) in the Graduate Students Government (GSG) of UAB as a Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department representative. Apart from the UAB GSG, he was also elected as a Treasurer for the UAB Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) student chapter (2019-2020) and the Bangladeshi Student Association (BSA) of UAB as well.
